Extended cancer check-up:
In case of frequent cancer occurrence in the family, unexplained loss
of ability or simply the wish to be "as sure as presently possible" that
no malignant illness exists, the following examinations can be advisable following
a satisfactory conversation with a doctor :
- Complete video colonoscopy (painless), any polyps found are directly
removed; possibly combined with:
- Video gastroscopy
- Early detection and therapy of the gastroesophageal reflux disease
- Ultrasonic examinations of lymph nodes, thyroid, urinary bladder, abdomen, possibly prostate, testicles
- Specialised laboratory for various
tumour
markers, determination of different hormone levels, antibodies,
ascertainment
of the coagulation factor etc.
- Possibly a chest radiography (lungs etc.)
- Where required, a
gynaecological
examination with cervical smear test, HPV-test (Papilloma-irus as Ca.-hazard
factor) and ultrasonic
breast
examination
- Urological examination
- Possibly further examinations
such as
computer tomography, magnetic resonance imaging or scintigraphy of the
bones, if
considered
necessary
